Aims and Scope

The Foreign Policy Quarterly is the oldest scientific journal in the field of foreign policy and international relations studies. The publication of this quarterly journal has been initiated by the Center for Political and International Studies since 1986 in an effort to advance foreign policy literature in the country and to create a suitable space for presenting the views of scholars and experts in foreign policy and related fields. This journal seeks to promote theoretical and empirical knowledge in the field of foreign policy, with an emphasis on an analytical, critical, and comparative perspective on foreign policy issues and developments, including emerging issues and evolving structures in foreign policy and international interactions. The vision of the Foreign Policy Quarterly Journal is to provide a favorable platform for explaining opinions and ideas and exchanging scientific thoughts among researchers, academics, and political scientists in the field of foreign policy and diplomacy, so that the quarterly journal serves as a bridge between theoretical knowledge and practical needs in the field of Iranian foreign policy. Over the decades of its activity, this quarterly has strived to become a reputable reference among the country's academic journals active in the field of foreign policy and diplomacy by adhering to the highest standards of scientific review, a transparent publication process, and adherence to professional ethics. In line with the defined vision, this quarterly pursues the following goals to achieve the aforementioned:

  • Producing and developing knowledge in the field of foreign policy and diplomacy with an analytical and applied approach;
  • Providing a scientific platform for publishing innovative research on various developments in foreign policy, including structural ones, emerging actors, and important issues of the international system;
  • Creating a space for presenting expert opinions of experts, diplomats, and policymakers by publishing their views and analyses in the form of scientific articles; - Strengthening the connection between the quarterly and various departments of the relevant ministry by providing practical and documented analyses to assist in decision-making;
  • Paying attention to emerging global issues, including the relationship and link between foreign policy and artificial intelligence and emerging branches of diplomacy;
  • -Improving the quality of scientific research in the field of foreign policy through adherence to rigorous standards of review, scientific methodology, and research ethics.
