The Relation between Culture and Diplomacy in French Foreign ‎Policy

Document Type : Research Paper

Abstract
Nowadays the culture and national identity is one of the best sources for analyzing behavior of players in international politics. These two concepts which were brought into the theories of international relations by constructivist theory are important in a sense that states identify and recognize their friends and foes and make their policies based on identity which is derived from their internal environment. In line with this concept, due to its civilization and its geographical, cultural and historical characteristics, France perceives a certain identity for itself. This national identity is the basis for decision making and actions of French politicians be from Gaullist or Socialist front.
