The Fundamental Challenge of Islam with the Nature of Western ‎Diplomacy

Document Type : Research Paper

Abstract
The debate on co-existence and dialogue among civilizations will be meaningful only if the most important requirement for it- the peaceful approach among nations- does exist. In other words, both sides of a dialogue should perceive their value systems of the same weight and identify other’s values. Even the least hegemonic and dominant-oriented approach contradicts this aim. While the Western civilization is based on animosity toward the East, one could not think of East-West peaceful dialogue. Even the Western diplomacy which should be the means of dialogue is not more than imposing their will to others.
Will this kind of approach able to produce respect for other nations and constructive engagement while it assumes other nations as wild and Barbarian? The foundations of Islamic thoughts contradict this approach and are based on respect and blessing to the whole world.
