The Structural Impact of G-77 on Realization of Its Goals‎

Document Type : Research Paper

Abstract
Due to dissatisfaction with their status and the dominant global economic order, developing States aimed to coordinate their efforts and to follow common goals in order to promote their level of development and to boost international trade in their favor. In this context the Group of 77 was established, having the economic agenda as a priority and concentrated on the United Nations as the most appropriate venue to realize the aims of the group.
Seeking and planning for a new and just international economic order; recognition of the 'right to development' and following the Millennium Development Goals were among the most important efforts of the Group. Despite some relative success of the G-77 due to the sweeping number of its member states, structural shortcomings are among the obstacles for complete realization of the aims of the Group.
The present article examines the Group of 77 and the impact of its structure on realization of its goals.
