The US and China Strategy in Asia-Pacific: Coopetition

Abstract
Enjoying a significant role in global equations and competitions, Asia-Pacific is among the most important strategic centers of gravity in the world. Based on its economic, political and security characteristics, this region is the collision ground of great powers such as the United States and China. In fact the structure of power in the region is shaped by interactions of these two States and their collaboration with ASEAN, Japan, South Korea and India who have their own influence on security aspects of the region.
This article aims to give a comparative study of the US and China strategy in the Asia-Pacific region. In this context the main question is whether the US and China strategies in Asia-Pacific will lead them to conflict or cooperation. Based on the theory of interdependence and applying a comparative approach, the author emphasizes that the US and China strategies in this area will go through cooperative competition or coopetition.
