On July 1, 1404, the United States attacked Iranian nuclear facilities under the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The attacks on these nuclear facilities resulted in serious physical damage. The attack on Iranian nuclear facilities by the United States violates the principle of the prohibition of the use of force enshrined in the Charter, Additional Protocol I to the Four Geneva Conventions of 1949, and resolutions of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency prohibiting attacks on civilian nuclear facilities. Targeting nuclear facilities is explicitly prohibited in numerous international documents, including Resolution 444 of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Additional Protocol to the Four Geneva Conventions. Moreover, such attacks can be considered an environmental crime (ecocide) due to the possibility of causing widespread, long-term and severe damage to the natural environment, which is prohibited both in customary international humanitarian law and in treaty regimes. The Islamic Republic of Iran has condemned the aggressive actions of its enemies, especially the US attacks on nuclear facilities, through diplomatic notes and official correspondence with international institutions and the preparation of reports and legal documents. . The set of diplomatic and legal actions of Iran outlines a coherent and multi-layered strategy in which exposing blatant violations of international law, mobilizing global public opinion, and creating legal platforms for the pursuit of rights have been pursued simultaneously. In this study, the legitimacy of these attacks is first assessed and then Iran's diplomatic actions are examined.
