Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) has a significant impact on the United States’ foreign policy and decision-making within the realm of public diplomacy. This advanced technology enables predictive analyses and real-time threat detection, ranging from anticipating military maneuvers to assessing political instabilities. However, in the process of integrating AI into diplomatic operations and strategic planning, the United States must implement this technology responsibly while addressing existing ethical and security challenges. The fundamental research question of this study is: What role does AI play in U.S. foreign policy? The present study employs a qualitative methodology, drawing upon library and online resources and utilizing an analytical–descriptive approach to examine the position of AI in U.S. foreign policy. The study tests the hypothesis that AI holds a critical role in U.S. foreign policy by forecasting policies, creating new opportunities in international interactions, and enhancing public diplomacy. The findings indicate that the strategic utilization of AI capabilities can transform the global order and pave the way for a new era in state-to-state relations. Accordingly, the opportunities and challenges of AI in U.S. foreign policy require careful discussion and analysis.
