In recent decades, The Islamic Republic of Iran has been struggling with the security threats of hazardous piracy which caused myriads of damages and crises today. The existence of these Pirates in international waters made crises which has become one of the principal dilemmas facing the Iran's economy. Due to the determination of maritime shipping transit and obtaining a larger share of offshore transit in the high seas, Iran has paid attention to the issue of maritime security and the phenomenon of piracy and ways to deal with it.The Islamic Republic of Iran like other members of the United Nations and the international community, is following the Security Council resolutions and considers the threat of piracy, especially Somalia pirates, as a security threat against itself and it gets through along with 2 organs “ports and maritime organization” and “Islamic Republic of Iran Navy” and with a combination of legal, political and military measures to deal with it.
What ways has the Islamic Republic of Iran adopted in response to the threat of piracy security? "This article responds to this question". The findings of this paper show that the Islamic Republic of Iran, through its own organs, the Navy and the Ports and Maritime Organization, has been dealing with this security threat last decade as a maritime authority and has been able to address these threats through legal, political and military mechanisms to restrain the threats in a relatively successful way.
