The US Political and Security Approaches in the Middle East

Document Type : Research Paper

Abstract
Leaders of the United States started the post-cold war era with attacking Iraq in 1991. As became evident later, this operation served as providing the ground for more extensive US interference in a region which created the most important challenges for the US status in international system. The Islamic uprising derived from Islamic revolution in Iran grew further. Islamic resistance in occupied Palestinian lands and growth of radical inclinations in the Middle East was temporarily responded by the Greater Middle East plan but this plan failed to decrease US challenges in the region so that Barrack Obama has adopted new policies to solve these problems.
The present article aims to study US challenges and its limited possible options.
