The Dynamism of Population Growth in the Region: Impacts on ‎Sustainable Security of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Document Type : Research Paper

Abstract
One of the elements in analyzing the sustainable security of the states is the dynamism of population growth at national level and in the peripheral countries and its ramifications for the concerned country. Apart from immigration, challenges like health and epidemic diseases, trans-border crimes, smuggling (goods, currencies and humans), drug trafficking, sudden movement of population in cases of unexpected natural disasters, political and social crises and wars are among the issues which impose negative impacts inside the borders. The political borders, even being secure and protected, will not be able to immune a country from the population dynamism of the neighboring countries.
The present article aims to give an assessment of the status of population growth of the peripheral region of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its developments up to 2050 and its implications for the sustainable security of Iran and the region in future.
