Document Type : Research Paper

Abstract
Geopolitics is of great importance in integration and divergence of States and regional groupings and organizations. The Persian Gulf Cooperation Council as a regional organization, from the beginning of establishment was not a successful pattern of regional integration regardless of integrative grounds; such as religious believes, cultural similarities, and civilizational dependencies. From a geopolitical approach, the aim of this article is to analyze the obstacles for integration in the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council. These obstacles include border disputes, hydropolitics crises, hegemonic struggles, different levels of development, ideological differences and monetary challenges.
