Transformation in Balance of Power in the Middle East after the ‎Arab Uprisings ‎

Document Type : Research Paper

Abstract
After uprisings in Arab countries, the political role and weight of the States in the Middle East is changing. Recent developments in the Arab countries created new opportunities and chances for transformation of the political and security atmosphere and balance of power in the Middle East. The people uprising has dramatically changed trends, processes and power calculations in the Middle East. Meanwhile, the new atmosphere is quite dynamic and the new balance of power in the region has not fully shaped yet.
The hypothesis of the present article is that the Middle Eastern environment is crisis-torn and influenced by overthrow of dictators in the Arab countries. In such a tense environment, there are two conflicting discourses named as the discourse of power versus the discourse of resistance. It is evident that the second one is going to prevail. In that case the ramification for the balance of power in the region will be decisive and far-reaching.
