The aim of this article is to study the scientific and research cooperation between Iranian researchers and their counterparts in the major industrialized countries (G8) in the framework of Scopus database during the period of 1998-2011. The status of science production in Iran and countries of the G8 will be assessed and analyzed.
The findings prove that during the target period, scientific cooperation between Iran and G8 countries has intensified. Tehran University, Sharif University and Tehran University of Medical Science are among the most engaged centers in scientific cooperation with these eight countries. Researchers in the fields of engineering, medicine, physics and astronomy have produced most of the articles. Most of these scientific production has been presented, in English language, to a conference or published in a journal.
